Description | The paper introduces the tutors of international students to cultural variations in communication, e.g. variations in interpretations of messages and their culturally dependent meanings, understanding the context of communication and so on. The tutors will learn about the stages of cultural shock that the international students can undergo, particularly ethnocentric attitudes and stereotypical perception of the host culture. The tutors will learn how to respond to ethnocentrism and stereotypes as well as the most efficient way to introduce the international students to the Czech culture without reinforcing their cultural shock. Lastly, useful tips how to help the international students and make their stay comfortable will be presented. |
