Description | This book provides an overview of contemporary theories in semantics. It considers in turn cognitive semantics, interpretative semantics and incorporates poststructuralist objections to lexical semantics. The author thus performs a path analysis from the smallest units of meaning, semes, to themes that penetrate texts. As such, it does not neglect the links between semantics and literature: substantial studies of F. Kafka and D. Harms texts are outlined about the theme of the Absurd. More generally, this book revives philology and broadens the scope of semantics in the humanities. Finally, it is a manual for any student who aims to familiarize himself with this new discipline, since it includes exercises with keys. |
