Description | When verifying magnetic alignment (spontaneous prevailing north-south body axes orientation)of cattle on pastures, we were wondered, what is the cause of remarkable differences of alignment in herds with various numbers of cows. Is the key factor of magnetic alignment size of the herd or its density? Is alignment affected by interactions in herd? Our results suggest, that cattle alignment is more evident in individuals from large herds with more than 30 cows and moreover, the density of herd seems to be the crucial factor. Cows from herds with low density show higher rate of sponaneous orientation (n = 233, r = 0,19, p << 0,01, u = 24/204) against cows from high density herds (n = 233, r = 0,04, p = 0,638, u = 2/282). |
