Description | Basal-cell carcinoma is among the most common types of cancer affecting skin. It is mostly found in solar locations, predominantly on the face. Both internal and external factors play a role in its development. These promarily include chronic actinic effects, age and genetic dispositions. This type of carcinoma tumours is a malignant epithelial tumour growing out of pluripotent basal cell of the epidermis with preserved mitotic activity, but without the capability to keratinise. It has several clinical forms, distinguished by their histopathologic features, which accordingly affect prognosis and therapeutic procedures. |
