Description This paper deals with the situation and problems of the Slavic minority (Croats and Slovenes) living in Italy during the interwar period. Especially it is focused on the events in Istrian Peninsula and Trieste during 1920s and the Pula trial in 1929. In preparing this paper mainly Croatian and Slovenian literature and sources were used. For the preparation of this study important sources were also collections of texts from regularly held meetings called Pazin Memorial. These meetings of experts on history of Istria and the contemporary witnesses have been held in Pazin since the 1970s. Furthermore, as important sources also the materials of the Czechoslovak Consulate General in Trieste were used. This consulate worked in Trieste from 1921 to 1939 and in addition to its business activities rather closely observed the political and national life throughout a wider area of the former Austrian Littoral. To illustrate the situation Croatian contemporary press and the press published by Slavic minority in Istria was used as well.
