Description | This paper deals with life and scientific work of the world-recognized Czech biologist and physician Professor František Karel Studnička. Studnička was a supporter and promoter of the cytoplasm transformation theory, known as the exoplasmic, who presented as an alternative to the cell theory. He published numerous papers in the field of comparative anatomy, comparative embryology, cytology and tissue histogenesis as well as plasmatology. In 1919 Professor Studnička established the Department of Histology and Embryology of the Masaryk University; he contributed significantly to recognition of priority of J. E. Purkinje discoveries in the world literature and also to improvement of microscopy and histological technique. In Brno together with physiologist Edward Babák he founded the Czechoslovak Biological Society that will celebrate 90 years of its existence and activity on January 18, 2012. |
