Description | The attention of research and practice in the field of special education of children with behavioural disorders is presently being shifted due to the current educational approaches to disability and disadvantage and the diversion from the social-pathological concept of behavioural disorders. It is a change towards perceiving an individual with behavioural disorders from the point of view of his educational needs, his future quality of life and his functioning within the society. This article presents a research based on interviews with young people who had spent a few years of their life in an residential care for youth due to their behavioural disorders. The author defines areas in which special educational interventions aimed at the preparation for future life are needed to be provided in the conditions of institutional care. |
