| Description | The study deals with the stability of personality traits and self-concept of selected variables between adolescence and adulthood. The sample consisted of 83 participants (35 men and 48 women aged from 38 to 45) who participated in follow-up longitudinal study of adults in the survey carried out in childhood. Personality characteristics (extraversion and neuroticism) were measured at the age of 16 years with the MPI Maudsley Personality inventory, in adulthood with Eysenck's personality inventory (EPI). Self-esteem was examined at the age of 14 years using Coopersmiths self-assessment questionnaire (C.S.E.I.). General self-esteem and its components were compared with selected aspects of the self-concept in adulthood (global self-esteem, self-efficacy, self-concept clarity). For extraversion and neuroticism predicted stability was found (correlation coefficients 0.33 and 0.39 respectively). Other results show that the general level of self-esteem in adolescence is related to adult self-concept clarity rather than self-esteem. |
