Description | The contribution deals with the use of possible activating teaching methods in health education. The results of our research (Reissmannová, 2010) of the health literacy (related to first aid) done in the lessons at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University showed a low level of health literacy of future teachers, for example, an apparent lack of first aid experience. The results led us to a deeper reflection on the methods used in teaching health education and to necessity to change the concept of first aid and health education. Currently, not only do we use the experiential education effectively but it is also received positively by students. The constructivist approach is considered to be a very useful and promising attitude to teaching of health education. The research of health literacy and preconceptions on human health has led us to the preparation of textbooks of health adopting the constructivist approach. Our goal is to increase the teaching effectiveness of health education for future teachers and thereby contribute to increasing the level of health literacy of citizens of the Czech Republic. |
