Description | The lecture President of the Republic focuses on this top state body from the legal point of view. This lecture copes with this state body in a very comprehensive way – election, oath, performance of the function, presidential liability, countersignature, representation of the president, his seat and flag. Cases which provoked legal or political discussions, like the dispute on ratification of the international treaties, on appointing the judges or on cooperation with the government, are mentioned as well. The position of the president towards the government is created not only legally but also politically. If the support of the government is weak, then the influence of the president rises. If there is a strong government, the factual position of the president is influenced. In the Czech Republic there occurs the determining factor that important political persons became Czech presidents.
