Description | This book analyses historicity in Chris Marker's and Karel Vachek's films. It's theoretical framework defines the scope of understanding based on philosophical hermeneutics and the concept of mimesis provided by Paul Ricoeur. The study interprets Heidegger's analysis of temporality of "being-there" as well. Book aims to evaluate concepts of understanding and of historicity of the "being-there" in a relation to analysed essays. Essay film as a genre is defined as a processual non-Cartesian contemplation. On this basis the thesis analyses the films and concludes that while Vachek's monologic films tend to pamfletic manifestation of Nejedlý's traditional national romanticism, Marker turns in a reflection of mechanism of historicity as such and provides a structural analysis of memory and historicity itself. |
