Description Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic non-infectious inflammatory skin disease. It is characterized by intensive pruritus, xerosis and lichenification of skin. Eczematous lesions tend to be mosty localised, in serious cases can progress into erythroderma. Clinical manifestation of AD is caused by skin barrier disorder. AD has enormous morbidity, and the incidence and prevalence appear to be increasing. The report presents a 48-year-old man with atopic eczema, with extent of erythroderma, complicated by secondary bacterial infection. The patient was successfully treated by cyclosporin in a dose of 200 mg per day, after three months the dose was reduced. The patient is being continually treated by cyclosporin, almost without any side effects. Quality of life in this patient was considerably improved due to the systemic treatment.
