Description | The Exhibition Olomouc Baroque introduced a great number of interesting plans related to the local architectural production. The following essay tries to outline one of the possible ways of understanding this material. It is getting close to the methodical hypothesis of the contemporary art historical research of the multilayered and corporative designing of buildings in the Baroque period. This is why several partial surveys of the Olomouc building practice were chosen. First, the corporative planning of the Olomouc Jesuits at the beginning of the 18th century is presented, and identified are the original plans of the Jesuit church and college by Michael Joseph Klein; then those Olomouc buildings where proofs of the multilayered planning can be found are pointed out briefly, and finally it is interceded for new appreciation of the architectural works of the younger generation of the Olomouc builders and engineers around the middle of the 18th century, rather underestimated up to now. |
