Description The aim of this paper is to analyse the moral autonomy of journalist on the basis of Kant's analytics of practical reason and Aristotle's mean. Starting with a case study of a media representation of the murder of young girl in 2013 in Jihlava, Czech republic, the paper reveals every deontological and consequentialistic advocation of this representation as heteronomous. That means, that these theoretical positions do not provide sufficient grounds for the dignity and autonomy of professional journalist. The paper argues, that any moral journalist has to base his ethics on the dignity of personality, it means on his autonomy. This autonomy leads him to acquire practical wisdom and achieve a habit of virtue. With a respect to complexity of the personal dignity, the good journalist acts morally not only in his service, but also in his private life.
