| Description | The paper deals with the use of property rights for the protection of the environment during extraction of mineral resources. Different economic theories, which are briefly described, promote these instruments. Property rights are recognized as a supplement to public regulation methods of environmental protection. This paper focuses on the analysis, how are these tools used in the Czech Republic. Author concludes, that these instruments are barely used for environmental protection. On the contrary, opponents of mining used them as an argument to ensure greater protection of their private interests. |
