Description | The paper is focused on the evaluation of anthropogenic changes on river networks in the Sázava Upper River Basin and in the Svitava Upper River Basin. These areas are significant for sources of surface water and groundwater (protected areas of the natural accumulation of water) and in addition there is situated the protected natural area Žďárské vrchy in part of the Sázava River Basin. Hydrologically and naturally important areas (watercourse, flood plain area) were changed over the years. There were observed four categories of these changes on the basis of field research and study of maps: channel straightening, bank reinforcement with stones and plants, bank reinforcement with stone wall and piped watercourse. Selected water structures as water reservoir, and weir were investigated. Total anthropogenic influence of river networks was expressed using a point scale and hexagonal grid cell maps (length of modified watercourses to the total length of watercourses). 1/3 watercourses in study areas was man-made modified. These adjustments related to the historical stages of construction of water reservoirs, large-scale land consolidation in the 70’s and 80’s of last century, the construction and development of settlements and roads. An approach to anthropogenic interference should be very sensitive in the river networks and the floodplain areas, particularly in protected areas of the natural accumulation of water. |
