Description | Appropriate technologies are simple devices that can be constructed from locally available materials (such as solar cookers, efficient wood stoves, composting toilets, etc.). Implementation of AT in developing countries can significantly improve the living conditions of local poor people. It is essential that workers at governmental and non-governmental organizations dealing with development aid should be familiar with the potential of AT. Since 2011 the Department of Development Studies at Palacky University offers a teaching subject dealing with the issue of AT. Content of the course has a large overlap between the technical, natural science, environmental and social fields. |
