Description | The conference paper was presented at the expert forum Science, culture, and politics in relations between Czechoslovakia and Italy: 1918–1951 organised by the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, between 19 and 21 September 2012. The author analyses two interconnected problems. The first of these issues consists in introducing, from the perspective of the underlying Baťa ideology, the image of Italian society, government, and position within international politics on the brink of the Second World War. The second problem analysed is the business interests of the Baťa plants in Italy; in the study, this question is concretised, and the author describes the vigorous expansion of the company within the Italian territory, namely northern Italy and adjacent regions of occupied Slovenia. |
