Description The chapter deals with communication disorders in students with moderate intellectual disability. Primary disability manifested as reduced intellectual ability is also reflected in the secondary communication abilities of the individual, receptive and expressive language is usually impaired, a person with intellectual disability is limited in skills of social use of communication skills. The chapter introduces speech therapy as a part of the intervention in students with moderate intellectual disabilities living in institutions with regards to the development of their pragmatic language. The chapter presents the results of quantitatively oriented research with the elements of qualitative methods, the main research techniques are a questionnaire and interviews with teachers, speech therapists and social services workers. The subject of research is the analysis of the development of social application of communication skills in students with intellectual disabilities in the environment of social services institutions.
