Description | The essay examins the issue of understanding djihad in the framework of Islamic mystics (Sufism). The apropriate trend performs – within the Islamic thought and history – a plethora of specific features and local forms. One can speak about so-called "living religion", which have various forms and specifical faces all over historical eras and regions of the Islamic world. The author's essay tries to point out the "unacceptable", but still existing connection between protagonists of Islamic mysticism and the well-known juridical and exegetic notion of djihad. In the end the author stresses the tie between traditionally "non-political" Sufism with the liberation movements against the European colonialism during ther 19.-20.th centuries. |
