Description | Background: The presentation deals with the evaluation of the subject called Nursing Essentials and its contribution for the students of general medicine within their undergraduate studies. Due to the changes in the composition and range ("time subsidy") of the education, an evaluation of the subject was performed in the academic year 2010 - 2011. The aim of the presentation is to make readers acquainted with this evaluation. Methods: The group of respondents consisted of students of the second year of general medicine. The data were collected by means of an anonymous questionnaire ( 10 items). The results were processed by means of absolute (n) and relative (%) frequencies. Results: The range of the theoretical education (3 lessons) was evaluated as adequate by 85.7% respondents and the information was found understandable by 92.6%. 54.4% respondents underwent a clinical training (12 lessons) at internal departments and 45.6% at surgical departments. The "time subsidy" of the clinical training was found adequate by 72.3% respondents, unnecessary by 6.5%, respondents and insufficient by 21.2% respondents. Conclusion: The investigation presented deals with the evaluation of the subject of Nursing Essentials from the point of view of students of general medicine at the Medical Faculty, Masaryk University, Brno. It results from the investigation that this subject is regarded as an important part of undergraduate education. The composition and process of both theoretical education and practical training are accepted with minor reservations. |
