Description | Diabetic and chemotherapy-induced neuropathies rank among the most frequent forms of peripheral neuropathies. Despite their different primary etiology, these neuropathies share common pathogenetic factors that result in peripheral nerve damage and similar symptoms. Important common factors linking both diabetic and chemotherapy induced neuropathies include oxidative stress, inflammation and decrease of growth factor levels. This article summarizes the results of pre-c/inical and clinical studies involving the natural substances trans-resveratrol, curcumin and mangiferin, which could be used in the future for the treatment of both these neuropathies and which have been selected because of the common pathogenetic features of both these entities. |
