| Description | Social work developed during the late 19th and especially in the 20th century. All theoretical and methodological concepts have their roots in this period (Matoušek 2001). Before the modern era of the history of social work, the social assistance (19th century ) was provided mostly by family, neighborly assistance , with the help of religious charity , and later through the villages and the poor law. |
