Description | The objective methods of visual acuity examination, in comparison with the subjective methods, do not rely on a patients personal evaluation. Due to this fact it is suitable for infants, intellectual disability patients, patients suffering from amblyopia or simulating/dissimulating people. The objective methods of eye acuity examination are represented by a preferential looking method, method based on optokinetic nystagmus and a visual evoked potential method. These methods apply the differentiation angle is minimal values to assess visual acuity. The common ground of methods mentioned above lies in detection and resolution of spatial frequency (spatial frequency is represented by the regular change of light and dark stripes on the angular degree of the testing field). |
