| Description | The content of the lecture reflects the current trends in contemporary psychology that are related with the rise of positive psychology. In a comprehensive manner we introduce the current development of the new approach of positive psychology, we illustrate the historical and philosophical background and introduce the main representatives of the field. We point at the main areas of current research of positive psychology and comment undeniable benefits as well as some drawbacks. We introduce also a major scientific societies of positive psychology which offers broad opportunities for international academic collaboration. Finally, we highlight the rich application possibilities of positive psychology in psychotherapy and consulting, coaching, work psychology and the helping professions in general. In a prospective view, we outline possible future development of positive psychology. |
