Description This paper presents transcription rules used for prepared critical edition of the hymn-book "Jesličky" by famous Czech poet Fridrich Bridelius. There are no universally accepted rules for the publication of Czech Early Modern texts. Although most editors follow Vintr's (1998) Principles, many do not fully adhere to them rules. This paper deals with issues of early Modern Czech orthography, such as punctuation, vowel quantity, orthography of loanwords, capitalization, word boundaries in written language, the distribution of the prefixes s-, z-, variations in using word-initial j- in present forms of the verb "býti", geminate consonants.
