Description | The idea that children and adolescents can and should participate in decision-making in the context of social services did not apply at all times. Earlier views on participation focused mainly on adults, and also in services for children and youth were based on the assumption that parental involvement is automatic to represent the best interests of the child. McNeish and Newman (2002) comments on the development of participatory discourse in the Anglo-Saxon world, and note that currently there is no longer a debate about whether children and young people should participate in decision-making, but rather seek ways to involve approaches which apply in different conditions and situations that the involvement of children and young people to be effective and authentic. In the Czech environment, it seems obvious that the idea of the involvement of children and young people in decision-making in the context of social services is still quite far away. The following study therefore focuses on participation as one of the dimensions of the quality of social services and I ask: “How could we encourage participation in the organization in the context of improving the quality of social services?” |
