Description | The presentation dealt with a potential application of interdisciplinary cooperation between the fields of English and Latin when teaching medical English and academic writing in English. Specifically, it focused on (1) the use of Latin abbreviations in academic writing in general, (2) the reasons and advantages of incorporating the study of Latin in the courses of academic and medical writing in English, and (3) the problems of Latin-English interference in the pronunciation of anatomical and clinical terms. The presentation emphasized the necessity to encourage an independent and creative approach as far as students and their language studies are concerned, the need for a productive knowledge use from concurrent language subjects, and the advantages of using information technologies in classes such as e-elarning support and tools of corpus linguistics. |
