Description | Reflection of teacher´s power according the Frenche and Raven´s (1959) classification of relational power (reward, coercive, legitimate, expert, referent) was measured by a Czech adaptation of TPUS at lower secondary level of education. The convenient sample consisted of 2188 students and 117 classes/teachers of elementary schools in subject Civics, Geography, History and Czech literature. Cronbach´s alpha coefficient of reliability was higher than .87 for all power bases. Students reported the highest use of reward and expert power. The coercive and legitimate power bases had a specific position – as they were not distinguished by the students as two factors but one. The least used was referent power, which is typical for the identification with the teacher and understanding her/his point of view. |
