| Description | The emergence of independent Ukraine in 1991 brought the need to create a new concept of Ukrainian history. Basic features of the new narrative were formed already in the first half of the 1990s and a fragile consensus has been reached on this matter. This paper deals with the historical politics of President V. Yushchenko and V. Yanukovych, which reopened disputes about sensitive issues of Ukrainian history and led to modifications of the official canon of Ukrainian history. Partial changes are documented on a selected sample of Ukrainian history textbooks. |
