Description | The aim of the chapter is to enhance the importance of the geographical interest in private spaces and to emphasise the enriching potential of the private spaces to the contemporary geography and theory. The multilayered concepts of home, dwelling or inhabiting are taken as the central idea from which we unfold the possible ways of studying, analyzing and representing different levels of intimate spatial ways of belonging – from imagined communities to the very personal and mundane places. Instead of studying home as a fixed and singular place, we present the view of home as process and multivariate phenomena. To see home-making processes as a flow more then the fixed and bounded entities enables us to better understand various experiences of belonging, structuring, ordering, inclusion and displacement, and humiliation and love. |
