Description | The article describes the preliminary results of the mapping of alcohol consumption in a representative, random sample of the population aged 25-64 residing in the district of Brno. The survey used a special questionnaire with six basic items covering one year, one month in more detail, and detailed quantification of the last week. Over the past year, 88.4% of men and 72.7% of women consumed alcohol. During the last week, 79.5% of men and 62.5% of women consumed alcohol. Average weekly alcohol consumption among them was 13.0 ± 10.4, respectively 7.3 ± 6.2 doses (each about 10 g of ethanol). The most common is consumption was in the range of 7-14 doses, which equivalent to 1-2 drinks daily. In 16.2% of men and 10.5% women (from those who consumed alcohol), the consumption exceeded the recommended weekly limit, which is 21 doses for men and 14 for women. Most of the respondents consumed alcohol separately from meals. |
