Description | The submitted study analyses the effect of national and international factors on individual representatives of Brno museums on the edge of the 19th and 20th century. Both phenomena played a crucial role in the local museum management, especially in the process of constituting the museum equipment, affecting the meetings and the composition of their boards when presenting themselves in the museum’s activities. The national and international factors have become in this way, an integral part of day-to-day museum life. In the same time there were significantly determined the specific national circumstances of the major provincial city and its relative openness towards the domestic and abroad ideological streams. They not only contributed to the desirable development of individual institutions, but in some cases, on the contrary, they could considerably slow them down. One cannot ignore the fact that they were often used as a kind of strategy in relation to the professionals and the general public with the intention to improve the image of the specific museum institutions and contribute to their better financial security, too. |
