Description This study deals with Suzanne Renaud who married the Czech poet, translator and painter Bohuslav Reynek, and she moved with him to Bohemia. They both expected that the ideals of their mutual correspondence would act as a bond also in their shared everyday life, but they had come from such different environments that idyllic coexistence proved to be impossible. Her poems are full of pain, sadness and lack of understanding, but also of profound Christian faith and hope, which opened a transcendental space transforming her view of both homes. This paper examines her view of the host country, her memories of her native country, and the impact of the Munich Agreement on her life, work and view of France.
