Description | Assessment of the life situation of a client is one of the most challenging tasks in social work. On the one hand it is shrouded in uncertainty as to how to perform it correctly, on the other hand it is burdened by recognizing that the assessment process is crucial for the overall quality of services provided by social workers. The contentiousness of the assessment task is supported by a variety of circumstances and characteristics. A social worker, for example, seeks to capture in the assessment process the image of the client's life situation in its entirety (Musil 2004), the need to assess the life situation is usually caused by a difficult and sometimes dramatic life event (Musil and Šrajer 2008), its outcome then determines the form of the social worker’s intervention and what is most important, in its consequence, also the fate of the client (Navrátil 2007). |
