Description | JAN ŠVERMA MINE IN ŽACLÉŘ IS A FORMER COAL BEARING STRATA IN ŽACLÉŘ FORMATION, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE CZECH PART OF THE INTRA-SUDETIC-BASIN. BASED ON THE CYCLIC SEDIMENTATION, THE VARIATION IN COMPOSITION AND COLOR DEPOSITS IS DIVIDED INTO LAMPERTICKÉ, DOLSKO-ŽĎÁRECKÉ AND PETROVICE LAYERS (TASLER ET AL. 1979). PLANT FOSSILS FROM THE MINE JAN ŠVERMA COMES MAINLY FROM LAMPERTICKÉ LAYERS, AGE VESTFAL A TO VESFAL B (NĚMEJC 1958). DUE TO THE SEDIMENTATION OF LARGE AMOUNTS OF FINE-GRAINED SEDIMENTS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF PLANT FOSSIL TYPICAL OF THE PERMO-CARBONIFEROUS HAVE BEEN PRESERVED. THE MOST COMMON OF THEM AS REPRESENTATIVES OF THE GENERA LEPIDODENDRON, SIGILLARIA, SPHENOPHYLLUM, CALAMITES, PECOPTERIS, PARIPTERIS, MARIOPTERIS, DISCOPTERIS, ALLOIOPTERIS, NEURALETHOPTERIS, LONCHOPTERIS ETC. (HAVLENA 1964 TASLER ET AL. 1979). BASED ON MACROSCOPIC AND MICROSCOPIC STUDY SPECIES NEUROPTERIS GIGANTEA WAS DETERMINED. THE ROCKS IN WHICH THE FOSSILS WERE PRESERVED ARE MAINLY ALEUROPELITES CORRESPONDING QUIET SEDIMENTATION IN ALLUVIAL, LIMNIC OR SWAMP ENVIRONMENT, AN ENVIRONMENT VERY SUITABLE FOR FOSSILIZATION OF PLANT DEBRIS. MOSTLY REPRESENTED GENUS LEPIDODENDRON TOGETHER WITH OTHER SPECIES OF TREE CLUB MOSSES, CREEPER HORSETAILS AND TREE FERNS INDICATES HUMID TROPICAL CLIMATE IN THE WETLAND FORESTS OF COAL BEARING PERMO-CARBONIFEROUS (NĚMEJC 1963 MEJEN 1974). OTHER GENERA REPRESENTED BY CALAMITES, CORDAITES AND PTERIDOSPERMOPHYTA ARE TYPICAL FOR AREAS OF GREATER DISTANCE FROM THE RIVERBANKS. |
