Description | The paper deals with a manner of interpretation of ancient Japanese myths grounded in the two national Chronicles of Kojiki and Nihonshoki, mainly in their early parts describing legends from the Age of Men. Based on recent archaeological and historical evidence I endeavour to reconstruct the process of state formation that took place simultaneously with religious formalization regarding the worship of the most ancient Japanese deities, the kami. |
