Description This paper deals with relationships called „Do ut des“ (I give you in order that you may give). This principle appears in Roman law of contracts as well as in respect to sacrifices in order that the god may give or do something in exchange for the sacrifice. Enforceability of consideration in Roman law was impossible for considerable period of time. This paper suggests that there may be influence of unenforceability of consideration in case of „do ut des“ sacrifices upon unenforceability of consideration in case of „do ut des“ contracts.
