Description | The study explores the rather complicated relationship between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation in the years following the end of the Cold War. It is an attempt at a synthesis of two national perspectives, the Russian and the Czech. The text starts with the short outline of the period of transformation of mutual relations in the 1990´s and at the beginning of the 21st century. The key factors, which influenced this development such as NATO and the EU enlargement are particularly underlined. Besides the security issues energy, economic relations and the evolution of Czech political discourse and public opinion about Russia are the main dimensions, which are analyzed in the study. The conclusions explore the main successes and failures of the relationship. |
