Description | This report describes clinical course of Fea´s viper (Azemiops feae) bite caused by one fang turned to side. Clinical symptoms of envenoming started with local pain and swelling on the entire upper limb. Subsequently, patient reported transient blurred vision and intermittent convulsive painful fasciculations of isolated different groups of the muscles. No other neurological symptoms were present and electromyography showed normal findings. The authors propose the possibility of influence of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors agonist azemiopsin in the course of envenoming. |
