Description | The malignant gynecological tumours are the diseases of older age especially. Related with the extension of life expectancy, this trend is evident in developed countries particularly. The malignant diseases in elderly patients are often diagnosed in advanced stages compared with younger patients. Early diagnosis of gynecological malignancy is basic condition to achieve long-term therapeutic outcome yet. The importance of early diagnosis in a group of elderly patients is multiplied by it allows the use of less burdensome medical procedures, including reduced the extent of surgery. When considering surgical interventions are more important factors than age itself mainly general condition and the severity of the associated diseases, which increases risk of surgery procedure. The highest risk situation in the elderly patients is acute surgery clearly, which is associated with the greatest risk of postoperative complications. This situation is generally associated with the underestimation or complete negation of clinical symptomatology of malignancy and the consequent late diagnosis of the disease in advanced stages. |
