| Description | The article deals with the epic poem The Bronze Horseman by A. S. Pushkin. Four main antinomies/contradictions appearing in the text of the epic poem are examined. As it seems Pushkin stressed in the text of the epic poem the most significant antinomies which showed that the writer was – at least unconsciously – able to feel them. He used them so as to draw reader´s attention to basic values connected with the appreciation of the historic role of Peter the Great. The antinomies in the text of the epic poem are supposed to be an evidence of a complicated, inner contradictory perception of the historical role of Tsar Peter the Great even by A. S. Pushkin alone in his famous poem for which the the poet used the tragic flood of 1824 as a background which allowed him to depict these antinomies pushing the reader to make certain value judgements. |
