| Description | The author summarizes the development of the social/cultural/political significance of Russian studies in the course of recent decades in connection with the specifically Czech relation to Russia’s area, to the Russian language and literature with regard to the social function of Russian studies as a scholarly discipline in various contexts. He accentuates the fact that humanities, mainly philologies, contain, besides their scholarly character, also an important general cultural layer representing the inseparable part of the life of the nation and its identity. |
