Description | This paper deals with a music education in schools in Bohemia from 9th till 18th century and compares it to contemporary level of teaching music. Beginnings of a music education in monastery, parish and town schools are shown, with a progression to teaching practice of Czech schoolmasters - composers from a classical period. The paper describes actual teaching process, the way pupils contributed to music performances within particular localities and professional music education demands for teachers and pupils placed by the then practice. It is a survey study of musicality of youth for research purposes running within long-term research projects at Department of Music of the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University. |
