Description | The issues of the significance of strength capabilities in sport and tennis are dealt with by many authors. In tennis, the strength of the playing arm primarily manifests in the speed of serve. In the researched age range, major inter-individual and inter-sexual differences were observed and confirmed. Boys exceed girls in somatic and motoric characteristics. Research shows close relation between body weight and physical strength. In junior age this aspect may affect the athletes’ performance due to the different progress of their ontogenetic evolution. For objective comparison of interindividual differences in strength levels, relative strength calculation is used (physical strength/bodyweight ratio). The goal of this paper is level analysis of maximum strength of players’ playing hand, comparisons and evaluation of intersexual differences of somatic (body height and weight) and motoric (maximum and relative strength of playing hand) characteristics, and determining the correlation between maximum and relative strength of playing hand and body weight. |
