Description | It is necessary to distinguish the didactic computer game from commercially available titles, so we could clarify through their specifics the extent to which they can be applied in the classroom and what eventually leads teachers to that. They are often struggling to adapt the concept of teaching to students for whom such a form of learning might be attractive according to some surveys. Further reading reveals how players learn and what we now expect from schools. Role of key actors of e-learning is gradually changing. A better understanding of these processes helps us to apply concepts such as engagement, immersion, flow and gamification to specific examples of educational contexts, games and simulations such as Second Life and Civilization. |
