Description | In contemporary Belarus, the most probable scenario in the case of domestic violence is full of surveillance and the risk of secondary violence against the woman. Female activists are amongst those few actors who would be able to recognise all threats of such pseudo-reform. But what are their attitudes to the issue of violence? Are they equipped for solving this task? This text highlights the diversity of attitudes to domestic violence amongst female activists as those who are the most sensitive and who are potential actors of changes – towards more consistent changes of practices. In line with discursive institutionalism, we put together the discourses practiced by activists and their position within the movement – in terms of credibility, connection with authorities, and other manifestations of social capital. |
