Description | Animal scabies in humans has unknown incidence. It is caused by mites from the family Sarcoptidae with more than 40 variants found in dogs, cattle, pigs and other mammal hosts. Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis causes highly contagious dermatosis - mange - in dogs. When transferred to humans it causes papulous rash of limited duration and limited infectiosity. |
