Description Localities Borač and Borač-Podolí are located approximately 7 km northeast of Tišnov. Both sites are located in southern part of the Carpathian Foredeep in Moravia. Coral fauna in this contribution comes from the collections of the Institute of Geological Sciences of Masaryk University, Museum of Brno-region in Předklášteří and collections gathered in autumn 2015. Locality Borač is known for the rich findings of ahermatypic corals. Typical sediment of this area is Lower Badenian "Tegel" which are rich on other marine micro- and macrofossils (Prochazka, 1892, 1893, Rzehak 1923 Seitl 1978 Říha 1980). Locality Borač-Podolí, which lies about 1.5 km east of the site Borač is a newly-studied locality where layers of tegel and fine sand were identified. Lenses of sand were rich in shallow marine fauna. Rich, mostly hermatypic coral fauna was detected here. A total of 15 genera have been determined: Tarbellastraea, Stylocora, Montastraea, Porites, Stylophora, Balanophyllia, Enallopsammia, Dendrophyllia, Paracyathus, Caryophyllia, Ceratotrochus, Trochocyathus, Flabellum, Peponocyathus, Deltocyathus. The studied coral fauna of the site Borač indicates deep water environment, while corals from the site Borač-Podolí represent subtropical shallow marine environment. The difference in the character of fauna and sediment at the studied locations is caused by different sedimentation processes. On site Borač clay sediments were deposited in a deeper and quieter environment. Sediments at the site Borač-Podolí represent occasional runoff from a shallower environment into greater depths.
