Description | A part of the perestrojka discourse was a return to the criticism of Stalinism. Socialist cinemas, after the first wave of films about non-legal trials and repressions, the films which were made after the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of Soviet Union, moved back to this topic during the 70s and 80s. The chapter, based on study of archive documents and contemporary reviews, analyzes two attemps of Barrandov Studio to reflect the first half of the 50s critically: the film made after the script of Vojtěch Vacke and directed by Radovan Urban He’s a Goody! (1987), addressed to children, and the adaptation of the novel written by Jaromíra Kolárová About Family Affairs Only (1990), directed by Jiří Svoboda. |
